Why is Microsoft Security Essentials "At risk" EVERY time I turn on my computer?

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Every single time I turn on my computer MSE says it’s at risk. Unless I update it which takes about half an hour it refuses to protect me. Does it have anything to do with my internet because I’m using Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go (an extremely slow modem in the form of a USB) and I have to manually connect every time I log in. So it’s not connected by the time Microsoft Security Essentials starts so basically I’m not connected to the internet when I log in. Is that the problem or what and how can I fix it?

Fast windows antivirus 2011?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I was searching through google images for a wallpaper and when I clicked on one, fast antivirus 2011 popped up.I never knew it was a virus so I clicked it but I didn’t run it. I deleted it from my computer. I ran malwarebytes on quick scan and nothing showed up. I’m running it on full scan now but nothing seems to be wrong with my laptop. I need this laptop for my mobile computing class this September so I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to make sure my computer isn’t infected. I have microsoft security essentials, would that interfere with the scan? and Should I download rkill and run my computer in safemode after the full scan is finished? Please answer! I need to go to a mobile computing class in 2 days to set up my computer!

Can I install MS Office on my desktop AND notebook?

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

I use a desktop at the office and a notebook when I’m out of the office.

I use Adobe Creative Suite 3, and it was very easy to confirm (multiple times) with them that my license allows me to install and use CS3 on both my desktop and notebook, AS LONG AS BOTH ARE NOT BEING USED AT THE SAME TIME, which would mean there were multiple users.

However, getting information on this subject from Microsoft is not so easy.

Does anyone have a difinitive answer on this? Can I install MS Office on my desktop and notebook PCs as long as I’m the single user and never use both at the same time?

If you have an answer, can you back it up with a link to a microsoft document that addresses this issue?

-> What the Program is: <-

http://laptop.org/en/index.shtml

Mission Statement: To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

-> My Question: <-
Hi! I love the idea of this organization and I would LOVE to spend 0.00 and both get a laptop and give a laptop to someone in the 2nd and 3rd world but I’m wondering if it would be a computer that I could use or if I should give it to someone I know for x-mas.

I’m VERY confused about what the specs are for this system and was wondering if you could help me figure our if the laptop could, say, run QuickBooks and Microsoft Word or if it is just a “Look Stuff Up” sort of “Toy” as apposed to something that I could work with.

I’m NOT complaining… I’m just trying to figure out what it is capable of BEFORE I send the money because I want to know if it would be for ME or if I would give it to a friend or a friend’s child.

If I can’t use the one they will send me, I will donate 0.00 to them just because I am so thrilled with their goals. (And since the new version comes out in 2010, I will donate NOW and buy then perhaps…)

I saw about this organization back a year or two ago on 60 min’s… So I’m happy to see that they are still going strong!!

Thank you very much for any help you can provide.
