Rugged Notebooks Guide

Hi, I’ve recently changed my security settings on my facebook, I set an option called ‘login notifications’ which tells you if you or someone else has logged on to your facebook using a different computer or device, mobile ect. I used a different browser on my laptop, and it sent me a notification, then it told me to do the security questions ect… so i pressed continue and it opened a page saying ‘Oops something went wrong’ does this mean that If i wait a while untill it fixes can still use my facebook account? what do i do???:(

I want to get a laptop but I don’t know what all comes with it. All I’m looking for is the laptop itself and the plug to keep it charged. What else comes with it? Is it like a package deal? Note: I already have internet access.

do you know if there is a laptop, or desktop computer
that works good with windows xp, and is 0 or less?
and which is least expensive, laptop or desktop?

Let me give you some background. I travel mostly out of a backpack. I shoot RAW and edit in Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom. I need something that is rugged, portable (under 5lbs), powerful enough to do my post processing.

I know most photographers laugh at the idea of doing post processing on a travel laptop. I need to because I’m in the field for weeks at a time. I shoot for newspapers so my finished files aren’t that big and I don’t have to do a ton of detail work like an advertising photographer would.

My first thought was to get a maxed out netbook: 1.6Ghz 3Gb ram 1024X800 and then have a desktop replacement notebook at home. But then the thought of switching to mac popped back in my head. I’m thinking about the 13 macbook pro. But I can’t justify the price jump for something that is essentially a PC with a different operating system.

Someone suggested a netbook running mac’s OS as the best option but I thought it might be underpowered. Any thoughts for a photo editing laptop with +1.6Ghz(preferably dual core), +3gb, -5lbs, rugged(not a toughbook), and with at least a 1024X700 display?

I should note that I’m running CS2 and want to upgrade. So the cost of buying CS4 is already factored into my price. I also want to stress that weight and size is very important to me because I live out of a backpack but I still want the minimum specs I listed above.

Also I think 15" would be my max size. I know the bigger the better for photos but I need something small for ease of travel.

I am starting my own business with a web site so this would be my main use for the laptop because I already have a great desktop computer at home. I would be traveling with it as well. I don’t like Dell and have been reviewing the HP laptops on Circuit City (which is where I prefer to shop, credit card reasons). I would like it to be fast and last a long time (battery), and would prefer a sleeker design (not too heavy). I will definitely be surfing the net, emailing, and need a lot of storage space. I prefer to spend around 00 or less but would spend more if necessary. I would like the web cam and mic feature as well, also DVD, CD burner. Can anyone make a suggestion? They all seem so similar. Also I hear a lot of complaints with this new Vista, what the heck is it and why it it so crappy? Thanks everyone and happy new year! I was searching through google images for a wallpaper and when I clicked on one, fast antivirus 2011 popped up.I never knew it was a virus so I clicked it but I didn’t run it. I deleted it from my computer. I ran malwarebytes on quick scan and nothing showed up. I’m running it on full scan now but nothing seems to be wrong with my laptop. I need this laptop for my mobile computing class this September so I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to make sure my computer isn’t infected. I have microsoft security essentials, would that interfere with the scan? and Should I download rkill and run my computer in safemode after the full scan is finished? Please answer! I need to go to a mobile computing class in 2 days to set up my computer!

ok so i am saving up for a laptop, becasue my computer crashed. IT will turn on and work fine, but when you turn it off, it barely if at all,
will turn on again.Should i keep on saving for a laptop,which will take a really long time. or try to work with my old computer, until summer, when i can get a job(im 14) and then achive my laptop?

I have an HVAC company and I wanted a laptop to have in my truck where I could just look at customer information (phone numbers, addresses, previous jobs etc). I haven’t started doing my homework on it yet, but the first thing that came to mind was the "Toughbook"? Do you think this laptop is right for the job, or is there another laptop or notebook taht would be better. Also I would like to have internet also. Thanks.

i have a desk that is used for a desktop computer but like the laptop for portability which is the better buy a tower or a new laptop?
i only listen to music and surf the web on it really and stre pictures and videos

I would buy a laptop
Reasons:
1.Portable
2.The mouse I think it’s easier to use
3.It’s just plain awesome
4. I’m using a laptop now
