Fast windows antivirus 2011?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I was searching through google images for a wallpaper and when I clicked on one, fast antivirus 2011 popped up.I never knew it was a virus so I clicked it but I didn’t run it. I deleted it from my computer. I ran malwarebytes on quick scan and nothing showed up. I’m running it on full scan now but nothing seems to be wrong with my laptop. I need this laptop for my mobile computing class this September so I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to make sure my computer isn’t infected. I have microsoft security essentials, would that interfere with the scan? and Should I download rkill and run my computer in safemode after the full scan is finished? Please answer! I need to go to a mobile computing class in 2 days to set up my computer!

Windows 7 Home Premium, C: Drive Disk Check Consistency Issue at every starting screen?

Monday, August 15th, 2011

OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC x64-based with an AMD Turion(tm) II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M620, 2500 MhZ, etc with Hewlett-Packard F.12 11/30/2009 , 500GB, 4 GB RAM and Boot Device is \Device\HarddiskVolume 1.

I have had this laptop since August 22nd so it’s been four days and it was purchased as refurbished (with a 90 day warranty) so I want to know if this issue is solvable or if it’ll result in hardware failure. The programs/files I have downloaded in the past four days are Last.fm, Itunes, AVG Trial/Free Version 9.0, activated Norton Internet Safety, Power Iso, Winrar, a Nancy Drew Game, Ifran View, Foxit Reader and Google Chrome. I scanned my computer for rootkits (2 appeared in my Norton Internet Security program…? I don’t know, but I got rid of them) and viruses using AVG about every day since I’ve purchased it and I’ve never had to force a reboot until the Disk Drive error showed up. I’ve often had to hold the on/off button during this frozen disk check screen once or twice until it let me hit the log-in screen.

It says something like Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is NTFS. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. To skip disk checking, press any key within (#) seconds.
Usually it freezes at 1 second and does nothing and it ignores any keys I press regardless. On one instance, after I removed AVG (in hopes it had the corrupted file) I took a picture of the monitor and it said:

something open volume for direct access. something cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software. The system restore feature from the control panel to restore to a point prior to the corrupt software package installation. Error occurred (768f8c78something along these lines 3f1).

I’m unsure where to go about this, my refurbished laptop didn’t come with a Win 7 restore/repair CD, and I don’t want to have to call Support unless none of you have any knowledge on this issue. My dad (who bought this as a gift) is weary of returning it so soon, assuming that I messed it up again. Help me out on how to fix it? I cannot run disk-checks/schedule them or do a system restore because it says Local Disk C:/ has a corrupt file. I tried to press F8 at startup and it didn’t go into safe mode (?) but I might have pressed it at the wrong time of reboot I don’t know. Help?

Why I'd my computer so slow?

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

So I have a GM5483E Gateway computer (specs are here http://www.google.com/m/url?client=safari&ei=SFsfTvDCI5DIM5jI3uwB&hl=en&oe=UTF-8&q=http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-GM5483E-Refurbished-Desktop-Computer/dp/B000WSCMME&ved=0CBwQFjAC&usg=AFQjCNFB8np0M1GWGpIAZSakFnF7pF5QxQ)
. When I first got it is ran okay. It is 2007 but now it runs really slowly in terms of startup and opening a browser, and it always seems to make a whole lot of noise with fans (Internet is fine, I use my mobile device, plus I have 40mbps). It takes a while to handle the simplest tasks and I can almost forget about opening iTunes. My web security provider is AVG (but for some reason I also have McAfee, how do I unistall?), I sometimes have skype on, and a screenshot software in the background (which isn’t slot compared to what Ive seen others have. I have not performed and hardware upgrades or converted to windows 7 (I have windows vista P1 32bit.). But is there a software that can "clean" my computer, or am I going to have to do some internal computer stuff?
Sorry, the specs are actually this

Tablet PC's?

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Can anyone recommend a good tablet pc for me?

I want it to be lightweight, portable, stylish, yet rugged.

I would like to use it for traditional computing as well as for music, pictures, maybe some light gaming, and most importantly AutoCAD and hopefully Photoshop or Illustrator.

Can you actually draw in AutoCAD with a tablet PC, or a comparable program such as Google Sketchup?

Any advice is welcome. I know a fair amount about computers, but am quite unfamiliar with tablet pc’s.

Thanks

Is the Toshiba Satellite L650-15G Notebook PC discontinued or bad or something ?

I can get a pretty sweet deal on it at a local retailer. However, when I Google it, there are not many relevant results. Not many suppliers seem to be selling it. Should I buy it or rather go for a more popular one ?

Cannot access Facebook through one particular computer after account was hacked-does my PC have a virus?

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Today when I tried logging on to Facebook via my mobile phone i got a message that said that their was a log-in attempt from an unusual location. it asked me to verify my details. i didn’t do it at that point, but instead i went to one of my PCs and tried to login, but i got the same message, so i verified my details and it said their was a login attempt from the Netherlands at 2:43am and asked me if i recognized it or didn’t. I selected the do not recognize option and went on to reset my password.

(BTW: I live basically on the other side of the world to the netherlands!-im not even remotely close to it!)

This seemed to work, i also reset my password to the email account i used to log into facebook. I then tried to login using the pc i used to reset the passwords as well as my mobile phone, and it worked.
I then tried to login on another computer which was recently clean-installed and wasnt running a virus scan for about a week and only had Microsoft Security Essentials Windows XP installed a few days ago. Whereas my other computers have Norton 360 V3.0.

On this computer when i try to login to facebook the page just refreshes and everything i enter disappears; if i purposely enter an incorrect password with the correct email it says incorrect password and goes to the failed login page.
After trying this; i retried accessing it through my phone and it works on my phone but not my computer.

I can still go to my email using my new password on this computer

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE COMPUTER I AM USING HAS SOME SORT OF TROJAN/MALWARE ON IT?

Your help is greatly appreciated
