Rugged Notebooks Guide

Can anyone with knowledge of computers please suggest a good model/brand. I don’t want a flimsy computer that will only last a year or 2. I know little about them, so any useful info you have is appreciated!! I want also one that has good memory so how much memory should I be looking for? I’ll be the only one using it. I just plan on using it to check my email, install & send home photos to others, and view online tv shows.

. When I first got it is ran okay. It is 2007 but now it runs really slowly in terms of startup and opening a browser, and it always seems to make a whole lot of noise with fans (Internet is fine, I use my mobile device, plus I have 40mbps). It takes a while to handle the simplest tasks and I can almost forget about opening iTunes. My web security provider is AVG (but for some reason I also have McAfee, how do I unistall?), I sometimes have skype on, and a screenshot software in the background (which isn’t slot compared to what Ive seen others have. I have not performed and hardware upgrades or converted to windows 7 (I have windows vista P1 32bit.). But is there a software that can "clean" my computer, or am I going to have to do some internal computer stuff?

Im living in Italy now, and before I left to came I bought a new HP laptop mini, and it came with Windows 7. Now that I am here I have been trying to hook up to the wifi router called Alice Mobile(its italian). So I first downloaded the Installation CD to my laptop so I would be able to connect. It went well, except I didnt know which type of security I shouldve selected WEP or WPA&PSK. But Ive tried both with the same router and it wont connect with any of them. So to hook up I have to go on my desktop and click on the Alice Adsl symbol to type in the password and username which ive been told i typed it in perfectly but it still wont connect. On my laptop when I connect to this Wireless connection(alice) it tries to open my WAN miniport and not the wifi which Im puzzled by. So my sister told me that its meant for computers up to XP windows. But the Router is brand new, I just dont know how it wouldnt work on my computer.Is there a way I could change to XP? or is there aother option to solve this problem? Thank You!! I really need help with this.

I have asked a guy I know(that is an expert in computers)which are the best desktops/laptops out there and he gave me a small list.They are:Toshiba(#!),Sony Vaio(#2),Compact HP(#3),and aDell(#4).I would like to here other suggestions,if you do not have any suggestions tell me which one you think I should buy.I’m looking mostly at laptops(since they are portable).I didn’t want anything fancy just something I could surf the web with,download music and games,play CD-ROM games&PC GAMES,listen to music,and somehting that is up to date.Also I would like to know what do you think is the best internet connection I should have.Right know I have DSL,I am sad to say.But when I do buy my new computer I will have somehting much more faster.The one game I really want to play(that I own)is City of Heroes,but this computer I have is so old that it won’t let me.My mom said that the computer doen’t hold much memory.Please respond if you can help thanks in advance I rwally appriciate it.

I really need to replace an Apple iMac desktop that is almost nine years old. I would like to buy a used Apple laptop, but will also consider a used Apple desktop or even a Windows machine. I know that it’s always best to spend as much as one can afford to get the computer you really want, but I’m wondering if there is any way to get a decent used machine. I welcome all suggestions & answers.

On Facebook, I was signed up go sms updates and so every time I would login to Facebook it would ask me for my location or computer name and I would get a text for every login, Mobile Device, Home Computer, iPhone, etc. It doesn’t do this anymore but I’m signed up for it still? It’s under accoutnt security.
My friends always get on my Facebook & I wanna be notified.
