Rugged Notebooks Guide

So I’ve had this old IBM Thinkpad for ages now, and i finally went and got a new computer, here are the specs.

Old computer: (IBM Thinkpad)
OS: XP
Graphics card: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300 256mb
RAM: 1GB
Processor:1.86 GHz
Hard drive: 30GB

New Computer (Toshiba Satellite L305)
OS: Vista
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family 1.3GB memory
RAM: 3GB
Processor 2.16 GHz
Hard drive: 250Gb

the thing is, my old computer could run many games, like Team fortress 2, l4d, Garrys Mod, CSS, runescape, all that. But my new computer lags tremendously on Team Fortress 2 and l4d. (i havent tried CSS.) And it even lags on Runescape! so im really confused. Whats wrong with my new computer?

NOTE: before i launched tf2 it always says that my Graphics card isnt in their database, so it might not run smoothly.

I also have another question, i cant open garrys mod, keeps saying that hl2.exe isnt working..any solutions to that?

I am currently in college and I need an easier, more organized way to take notes. I am kind of tired of hauling around my laptop, and it distracts me in class anyway. I also use Microsoft Outlook to organize everything, from calendars to tasks to email.

However, I understand that some Palm devices can be hooked up to a foldable keyboard and you can simply take notes that way. Then later, you can upload the notes on your computer. Palm devices can also synchronize with Outlook.

So my question is this… What Palm device (or any other device) should I get simply for taking notes in class and using Outlook featues? Is it keyboard compatible?

hi friends, i wanna enjoy internet on my computer by my mobile nokia 3200…. i hav tried both serial & usb cables… but all efforts in vain….. is there any special drivers or solution for do it….???

I have tried by placing the mini 2gb mem card in my computer and dragging a 2 min video to the mem card. Only to place the card back in the phone, and the video doesn’t even show on the "videos" page.I did the same to put my music on the phone and it worked.
I do have "Any Video Converter" and I converted the video to Mobile phone mpeg-4.
Any other solutions or is just not possible?

this is the situation:
i have my contact number in the computer.i use excel to make the list.now whenever i wanted to call someone i just use my search engine to look for the number.kinda like any mobile phone contact number.
after i have the number, i pick up my phone and dial it.it’s easy but not efficient.i know my modem can do the trick but the voice will be going out in the speaker and i have to talk with a microphone.
so long story short, is there some mechanism (or program) i can use to link my computer to home phone so my computer will do the dialing and i just pick up my phone to start talking.thank you for reading and thanks a lot for the solution :)

whilst the phone was charging i was using the phone at the same time i then looked away from the mobile and back and the mobile was dead and did not switch back on.The mobile makes no noise when i press the on buttons. The mobile has two start buttons and the mobile doesn’t start with any of the switch on buttons. i have removed the battery and placed it back several times with no response the phone seems completely dead.

what could this be and any solutions thank youuu

I bought a game called Halo for my little bro in January and installed it inside the laptop (seeing that the game doesn’t require much memory and graphic). The first six months was ok until this month (July) when the game started to act weird (graphics went like 16 bit) and then, everything started slowing down.

Nothing other than the game was installed, and I have check for virus, worms and spy-ware inside out the laptop. Defragging it won’t do much good. It was totally clean of all the malicious data. I’ve also uninstalled some worthless program from the laptop.

I still have this slow, crappy performance laptop till today….

Any solutions or ideas??

I cannot connect my mobile USB port to any of the Windows98 platformed computers. Can u please tell me about how can I get a solution to this problem???

I don’t have a laptop. I will be using my desktop with a power inverter. I’m not familiar with a lot of technical terms, so ENGLISH please. Looking for a low-cost very mobile solution. Will be homeschooling son on the trip and continuing my online college courses. Very important that phone and internet access is reliable with good coverage.

When I call customer service for virgin mobile I always know more about the phone and network than the service reps. they sound like they are reading off of scripts on computers and allot of times give very illogical answers. They also seem to panic if you ask a question that is not a listed question on there computer system. I have asked several times to talk to someone that actually knows about my phone, the network and there abilities but they say they cannot connect me to anyone who has any technical knowledge about my phone or the network.
